Home education is a growing trend in the US, with many parents opting to teach their children at home rather than sending them to public or private schools. While it’s not as widely accepted as other forms of education, Christian home educators are on the rise and using technology to help them stay connected with each other.

Texas Homeschool Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has served the homeschool community in Texas since 1987. Our members are parents, grandparents, guardians, and other family members who have chosen to educate one or more of their children at home.
We believe that every parent has the right to choose what kind of education is best for their child, whether it be public school, private school, or homeschooling. We also believe that families should be free to pursue their educational goals without government interference.
Our goal is to provide parents with the information and support they need to make informed decisions about their child’s education, and to help them navigate the homeschooling process. We offer a variety of resources on our website, including a searchable directory of local homeschool groups, an annual Homeschool Conference & Curriculum Fair, and a quarterly magazine called The Home School Digest.
Our Vision

Why Homeschool?
There are a number of reasons why parents might choose to homeschool their children, rather than sending them to a traditional school. Some parents feel that they can provide a better educational experience for their child at home, while others may have religious or philosophical objections to the public school system. Some families also homeschool because their children have special needs that cannot be adequately addressed in a traditional school setting.
Whatever the reason, parents who homeschool their children need to be prepared to take on the responsibility of providing their child’s education. This means being organized and disciplined, as well as having a good understanding of the curriculum and learning materials available. It can be a lot of work, but it can also be very rewarding.
The Homeschooling Lifestyle
The homeschooling lifestyle is one that is filled with courage, faith, and determination. It takes a special person to be able to commit to teaching their children at home and often times, these individuals are also members of a homeschool cooperative or support group. These support groups provide not only emotional but also educational assistance to those who might be struggling with particular subjects or topics. In addition, the Texas Homeschool Association offers an annual conference which helps connect families from all over the state.
There are many reasons why parents choose to homeschool their children but some of the most common include: dissatisfaction with the public school system, wanting to instill religious or moral values in their children, or simply because they believe that their child will learn better in a more intimate setting. Whatever the reason may be, it is important to remember that there are a number of resources available for homeschooling families in Texas.
FAQs
1. What is the difference between a homeschool and a public school?
Homeschooling is a form of education in which parents teach their children at home instead of sending them to public or private school. Homeschooling allows parents to customize their children’s education according to their unique needs and interests, and it also provides families with more flexibility in terms of scheduling and curriculum.
2. What are the benefits of homeschooling?
There are many benefits to homeschooling, including the ability to tailor the educational experience to your child’s individual needs, the opportunity for greater family bonding, and the chance to instill important values and beliefs in your child. Homeschooling can also be more cost-effective than traditional schooling, since you won’t have to pay for things like tuition, uniforms, or transportation.
3. Are there any drawbacks to homeschooling?
While there are many advantages to homeschooling, it’s important to be aware of some of the potential drawbacks as well. These include the increased responsibility placed on parents (who must act as both teachers and parents), social isolation from other kids, and difficulty getting into college if you decide to pursue higher education later on.
4. How do I know if homeschooling is right for my family?
Every family is different, so there’s no easy answer to this question. It’s important that you consider all of the pros and cons of homeschooling before making a decision about whether or not it’s right for you. Talk with other homeschool families, research online, and consult with educators or experts before making your final decision.
Resources
When it comes to homeschooling in Texas, there are a few different options available to families. There are many resources available online and through the state government. The most important thing for families is to find an option that best suits their needs.
One popular option for homeschooling in Texas is through a co-op. A co-op is a group of families who pool their resources and teach their children together. This can be a great option for families who want to be involved in their child’s education, but don’t have the time or money to do it on their own. Co-ops typically meet once or twice a week, and each family takes turns teaching different subjects.
Another popular option for homeschooling in Texas is through an accredited private school. These schools offer parents the peace of mind that comes with knowing their children are receiving a quality education. Many of these schools also offer extracurricular activities, such as sports and clubs.
There are also many support groups available for homeschooling families in Texas. These groups can provide valuable information and support during the homeschooling process. They can also be a great way to connect with other families who are facing similar challenges.
